Top 5 New Album Releases to Listen to While Staying Home
by Julia Austin
“Bored in the house, and I’m in the house bored,” is probably one of the most said phrases lately, thanks to Tyga and Curtis Roach’s new single “Bored in the House.” Here are 5 new album releases to help keep you from being bored in the house:
SORRY
925
Up and coming London based indie rock band Sorry’s debut album 925 is the perfect soundtrack to these dystopian-like times we’re currently living in. As one of my most anticipated albums of 2020, it surely has been one of my top plays since its release on March 27th.
THE STROKES
THE NEW ABNORMAL
It’s a coincidence that the latest album from the legendary rock band The Strokes is titled The New Abnormal since this ‘new normal’ we are living in is far from the normal we as a society are used to. The Strokes’ first album release in 7 years is pretty nostalgic for their older releases and left me pleasantly surprised on the first listen.
DEEPER
Auto-Pain
While many bands are postponing their album releases, Chicago four-piece Deeper released Auto-Pain at what I believe to be the perfect time. Their post-punk influenced sophomore album has been a positive addition to my music library during these trying times.
PORRIDGE RADIO
EVERY BAD
“I'm bored to death, let's argue” frontwoman Dana Margolin repeats in the opening track “Born Confused” off Porridge Radio’s second album Every Bad, it's almost as if she’s reading my mind. The whole record is one of the most relatable releases to date and will be a favorite long after we’re allowed to leave our homes.
THE ORIELLES
DISCO VOLADOR
Feeling like you’ve been spending a lot of time sitting on the couch? Northern England indie quartet The Orielles will have you up dancing with their second album Disco Volador. The groovy bass lines and upbeat guitar riffs will for sure place you in a trance, offering a perfect distraction from the negative news we’re constantly updated on.
